This shawl was a great lesson in believing in the virtues of blocking. Since I had a specific friend in mind when making this, I became so discouraged with how small I was convinced it would turn out to be that it sat in a 'to be finished' basket for a month or two. The pattern scrunched the stitches up so completely that i was all but ready to throw it out. After blocking, however, it unraveled itself perfectly.
