orange jello slices

when you can't pass up a sale and the mere notion of scurvy has you frightened, it becomes necessary to come up with various ways to eat your way through 10 lbs of oranges. here are some orange jello things that are really easy to make, using a recipe from TheKitchn.

I juiced three oranges and it yielded two oranges' worth of jello slices. also, instead of using a fork, like the recipe suggests, you can sort of pull out all of the spindly white bits without actually ripping the orange.

4 oranges should give you about a cup of juice, strained. take 3/4 of that and put it in a saucepan to bring up to a boil. i added about a tablespoon of sugar free raspberry jam but grapefruit juice or apricot jam would be really tasty. to the 1/4 cup of cold juice, add one packet of unflavored gelatin, then the simmering juice and stir together.

Wow, Julia! Orange jello slices and delicious looking bean burgers! I think the last time I checked out your blog you were making onion crackers (also good-looking, but not as advanced sounding). Why don't I live someplace closer to you? I could be the guy who conveniently drops by whenever he smells your cooking to compliment you on your delicious treats. That could be me! I could do that!
