i love taking care of myself for breakfast. i think i've spent so many years waking up four minutes before i need to be somewhere and dealing with the consequences of a rock bottom blood sugar level later. i take great joy in making breakfast in advance for the next day, or the morning of. i don't know why, but these weekend rituals are my meditation.
also, i love cooking breakfasts or brunches for other people. it's substantial, you're usually starving by the time everything's ready, and it is by far the most comforting meal you can make for someone.
so this brings us to breakfast ideas. back when i worked at a pita place we used to make this breakfast pita for ourselves every weekend morning when we all rolled in, throwing in whatever veggies we wanted without having to deal with the heavy machinery of cutting boards and knives. interestingly enough, we never put more than a few tomatoes or onions in, and tzatziki and hummus. i usually hate garlic for breakfast, but the mellow creaminess of the hummus is the glaring exception.
