first of all, i don't really understand valentine's day. i don't understand why people get bent out of shape making plans and why i had to wade through a sea of panicked men trying to pick out flowers at safeway so that i could buy some milk. however, i'm starting to really love this holiday, mainly because i have the best life ever.

i can completely get behind a holiday where i get gifts like this and still get a birthday present.
annnnyway i was really please with how well dinner turned out. chicken piccata with a lemon sauce (Barefoot Contessa), heart shaped pasta with a saffron bechamel (would have tasted better without the saffron), braised carrots and asparagus with bacon, and bread with a compound herb butter.hurry up, valentine's day 2010! mama wants a pony!
